A forum meeting was held at the University of Southampton on 3rd April 2014

Present: Keith Knox (Chair), Jim White, Timo Heimovaara, John McDougall, William Powrie, Richard Beaven, Jamie Coussens, Andrew Hudson, Sasha Pedchenko, Anne Stringfellow, Nick Woodman

Discussion points

  1. Richard Beaven (RB) outlined proposal for a landfill aftercare decision support system (DSS). The system would be an "information" type (knowledge-driven) DSS.
  2. There was general support for the idea from delegates present. There was discussion about the extent to which forum users should be able to post information directly to the DSS. Suggestions included creating a LindedIn "Landfill aftercare group" and starting new threads on Wikipedia.
  3. It was agreed that the next forum meeting should involve much wider representation from Industry. Keith Knox to discuss with CIWM whether they would be prepared to host the event. A template for the DSS should be produced in time for the meeting to provide industry representatives the opportunity to influence the direction of the DSS at its outset.
